Personal questions:
Why people would care about this vocal presence/representation in public spaces? Because they want to talk about how they imagine the world around them, what experiences they have.

## Streaming voices of West Rotterdam !!!I KEEP THAT ONE!!! Subterranean streams {#streaming_voices_of_west_rotterdam_i_keep_that_one_subterranean_streams}
It is a social project.Sound is used as a way to reveal things about
private and public, suppression of voices in that area with a broader
concern on how the voices are amplified. It is about revealing hidden
aspects of this Dutch area that it is connected How stories underneath
are revealed Sound excavation Where the private/public and gender
separation is present in that specific example. What modes of address
are present. How they are mediated. Is there a collective voice?
Leeszaal is my meeting point I visit the area, recording characteristic
sounds from it, walk and then visit Leeszaal as a meeting point of these
people that are related to that area.
what: a publication of a collection of feminist practices from wiki/git to printable pdf. A structure of a speaker listening to the surrouding and broadcasting back
why: occuping with sound, female ways of knowing, caring, concerning
I will make my archive of recorded sounds open to the people that are
related to the area and I will start conversations about them and their
personal connection with them. I wil give an object to discuss, like a
printed soundwave where they can annotate on it and then I will come
back with a new thing. THe process will be about involvement. Then
gradually this process will reveal topic that are important for them to
discuss and record voices or not. This process will create an archive of
sounds either recordings, findings, voices that maybe I will stream.
The process is about liveness. Spread the area\'s secret sides live. Its
also about \"re-membering of the past which, against the colonialist
practices of erasure and avoidance and the related desire to set time
aright, calls for thinking a certain undoing of time; a work of mourning
more accountable to, and doing justice to, the victims of ecological
destruction and of racist, colonialist, and nationalist violence, human
and otherwise -- those victims who are no longer there, and those yet to
come\" (Barad, 2018)
I am going introduce layers of mapping and I will reflect with my own
voice as well
in streaming you dont have the time to edit and reflect you just accept
it is like the agonistic model no time for thinking about future utopias
and realities but what is happening now. West Rotterdam what is
happening now. Archive as a process for transmitting (storage or
presence)

## what (strategy)
I want to create space
interrogate and explore methods of voice/presence in public
first reflected in the landscape/soundscape of the area (private/public) and second tools for the inhabitants to get comfortable with it/discuss about it through meetings.
and then invite for going outside
So, explore speech acts- a performative action of making things and space for it through embodied participation and vocal expression, by applying practices related to it in a safe space. Create a temporary public space of expression. And second listening to our surroundings, presences that occupy the public space, how they get expressed, what these sounds reveal. Everyone has a differnt interpretation when listening to these sounds, because of the structures that define this identity. Patterns of sounds of the area that reveal these structures. And giving it back to them to describe and listen carefully to their everyday environment. Not just extracting as an artist fragments of their world.
Personal questions:
Why people would care about this vocal presence/representation in public spaces? Because they want to talk about how they imagine the world around them, what experiences they have.
a feminist feedback composition
inside outside gender separation
female voice Amplification
## why (intention)
silencing of women/ establishment of spaces and roles because of the relation between space and identity/ gender construction
gender separtion in public space
approaches of listening and participation and specificity instead of formal articulation of rhetorics
speech act-> making things-> making space

# Scenario 1
@@Tender Space@@
People
Invite women and men? only women? ask friends (Clara, Cristina, Alice), random?
Make public the audio streaming at that day
Titles
Attune to the streaming
Get into the flow
Topics
Topics we want to talk about
Inclusion/exclusion of public/private spaces (f.e. fear of being present in public till late, fear of talking about politics)
Quitness, enforsed silence, interruption in dialogue
Public speech (horizontal ways of speaking in public)--the nakedness of voice
Modes of adress that sounds bad for the society like
Hidden dark narratives of society, mourning, annoyance, "thrinos"
Words for how this female sound sounds like/judgments from ancient mythologies to todays assumptions (the Monstrosity…)
Reader
Ask the participants to propose extracts from texts
Carson, A. (1996) The Gender of Sound, in Glass, Irony and God. First Edition edition. New York: New Directions, pp. 119142.
Beard, M. (2017) Women & Power: A Manifesto. 1 edition. New York: Liveright.
667: Wartime Radio (2019) This American Life. Available at: https://www.thisamericanlife.org/667/transcript (Accessed: 5 February 2019). (from: "This was bold, because almost no women in the village worked outside the home. They took care of (...) Nusra considered their voices shameful, a form of nakedness" to: "... Assad or the extremists, they barely held any ground.")
Workshop/meeeting structure
First warm up-feeling comfortable with each other (ideas: face washing, voice/breathing exercises, human microphone, deep listening of Pauline Oliveros, binaural transcription)
Reading extracts and sharing personal/collective memories/stories related to them
At the same time a streaming platform will broadcast online our conversations and we are going to listen to it in the same space. Because of the feedback loop (microphone and speaker feeding each other) the broadcast will be a flow of echoes of our voices (Cristina we can try that before together). We are going to listen to our past mixed with our present. This gonna help to feel comfortable with our voice being in public.
Our patterns will be revealed. Pay attention to them
https://pad.xpub.nl/p/tender_reading_meeting
# Scenario 2
**you are into the stream**
Inviting to separate and walk around the area of Leeszaal. First a topic will be decided to talk about/ a damage to be repaired. Dark memories of the area will also emerge together with that topic.
Personal stories in a live streaming where all of us can be online. Then we all listen to what we said. The audio file will be made by the voices overlapping but in chronological time.
